During the period when the country is fighting a battle against the global pandemic, The recent Gas Leak incident in India in a city named Visakhapatnam comes as a blow to miserable days.  Whenever this type of incident occurs it not only effects the humans but also effect environment and its component. There is a huge pollution and loss of life. India has reinforced the legal Framework on chemical safety by enacting rules such as EPPR rules, SMPV rule etc.

Some steps should be followed to prevent the disaster:-

   Regulation of storage and Transportation:-Regulating bodies should look the storage and transportation of cryogenics, keeping in mind its volatile nature.
   Medical Preparedness: - A national regulation on availability of medical team should be taken care of jointly by center and state.
   Safety Audit system by Regulatory bodies
   Legislation of Risk-assessment, requirement, classification, labeling and packaging
   Provision to penalize the defaulters:-After inspection by experts of technical committee defaulters must be penalized.
   Mock drill of Emergency Plans:-
   Regulation mock drill in the on-site and off-site of industrial installation must be done by the authorities.
   Promotion of International chemical safety Cards: - At the national level , the should be a promotion of ICSCs. And international program on chemical safety which is a joint venture of WHO, ILO and UNEP be done.
   Documentation for further Lessons:- The past disaster are to be documented to draw lesson. This can be done by bodies at state and center level.
